A progressed chart calculator creates a secondary progressed chart from your birth data and compares it with your natal chart. The result is a timing-style astrology chart: your natal positions appear alongside positions calculated for a symbolic progressed date.
The calculation is straightforward. This tool takes your current whole age in years and adds the same number of days to your birth date. If you are 30 years old, it calculates a chart for 30 days after your birth. In secondary progressions, astrology tradition treats one day after birth as symbolic of one year of life.
The planets in the progressed chart are not the planets’ literal positions in today’s sky. They are positions for that calculated date shortly after your birth. Astrologers use this method as a reflective layer for considering changing priorities, inner shifts, and longer personal cycles in relation to the natal chart.
Your natal chart remains the foundation. Progressions provide a moving comparison chart based on it.
What this calculator uses
Enter the same information you would use for a birth chart:

- House system
Your birthplace supplies latitude and longitude, which help convert the recorded birth time to UTC and calculate the chart accurately. Your birth time also matters for the Ascendant, Midheaven, house cusps, and house placements.
The calculator determines your current whole age at the time it runs, then adds that many days to your UTC birth moment. It uses the same birth time string and birthplace coordinates for the progressed chart calculation. The chart therefore updates as your age changes, rather than asking you to select a separate target date.
If no house system is selected, the calculation defaults to the Placidus setting. House systems divide the local sky into twelve houses through different mathematical approaches, so another house system may place planets in different houses or shift the chart angles.
How secondary progressions work
Secondary progressions use a symbolic day-for-a-year method. The first day after birth corresponds with the first year of life, the tenth day with age 10, the thirtieth day with age 30, and so on.
This is a traditional astrological timing technique. It is not a claim that planets move through space at a day-for-a-year rate, and it does not describe the current astronomical sky.
The calculation can be expressed simply:

For example, someone born on May 1 who is currently 25 years old receives a progressed chart calculated for approximately May 26 of their birth year. The exact chart output also depends on the birth time, UTC conversion, birthplace coordinates, selected house system, and ephemeris calculations.
The progressed chart calculator uses this current-age approach only. It does not offer an arbitrary date selector, alternative progression keys, solar arc directions, tertiary progressions, or birth-time rectification.
Natal chart inside, progressed chart outside
Your results display a two-ring chart comparison. The natal chart appears on the inner ring, while the progressed chart appears on the outer ring.
That format makes it easier to inspect the relationship between the two sets of positions:

The visible positions are calculated chart data. A planet’s sign, degree, house, retrograde status, and aspect geometry can be checked as output from the selected settings.
Interpretive language belongs to astrology tradition. It can offer prompts for reflection, but it cannot establish that a particular event will happen or diagnose a personal, medical, legal, financial, or mental-health condition.
Why the progressed Moon often draws attention
In secondary progressions, the Moon changes position more noticeably than the outer planets. A few days after birth can cover a meaningful stretch of lunar motion, so the progressed Moon may change signs and houses over a person’s life.
Astrologers often read the progressed Moon as a symbolic indicator of shifting emotional focus, daily needs, habits, or areas of experience that feel more immediate. A progressed Moon moving into a new sign may be read as a change in tone or style. A house change may be read through the topics traditionally associated with that house.
For instance, astrology traditions associate the fourth house with home, roots, family life, privacy, and inner foundations. A progressed Moon entering that house might be used as a journaling prompt about belonging, domestic life, or emotional security. It does not prove that a move, family event, or other specific outcome will occur.
Because the Moon moves quickly in this system, exact progressed Moon aspects are often watched closely. The calculator shows the calculated aspect, planets involved, and their geometry. The meaning assigned to that contact remains interpretive.
The progressed Sun moves through longer chapters
The progressed Sun generally moves much more slowly than the progressed Moon. In the day-for-a-year framework, it advances around a degree of zodiacal longitude for each year of life, though its exact motion varies.
Astrologers may treat a progressed Sun sign change as a longer shift in self-expression, purpose, identity, or direction. A person with a natal Sun in late Pisces, for example, could eventually have a progressed Sun in Aries. Traditional interpretation may frame that transition around initiative, directness, or a new way of asserting personal aims.
The calculation itself only shows a position: the progressed Sun’s sign and degree. Any description of an “Aries phase” is an astrological reading, not a measured personality change or a forecast.
Progressed Sun aspects to natal planets are also commonly considered long-running themes. A progressed Sun conjunct natal Venus, for example, may be read in astrology through values, affection, pleasure, creativity, or relationship patterns. It does not guarantee a relationship, marriage, financial gain, artistic success, or any other event.
Progressed personal planets and outer planets
Mercury, Venus, and Mars can also move enough in the early post-birth ephemeris period to form new signs, houses, or aspects across a lifetime. Traditional astrology often considers these placements when reflecting on communication, connection, desire, initiative, preferences, and personal motivation.
A progressed Mercury sign shift may be read as a changing style of thought or expression. A progressed Venus contact can prompt reflection on attachment, enjoyment, taste, and values. A progressed Mars aspect may be viewed through energy, assertion, conflict, courage, or effort.
Jupiter through Pluto usually move less over the relatively short range of days used in secondary progressions. Their progressed positions may still be included in the chart and aspect tables, but a small movement does not make them unimportant or unimportant by default. It means the calculation reflects their slower astronomical motion during the days after birth.
The result page keeps the positions available for inspection rather than reducing the chart to a single placement. You can compare the degree, sign, house, and aspects of any listed body or point with its natal counterpart.
Reading natal-to-progressed aspects
An aspect is an angular relationship between two chart positions. The progressed chart results include aspects between natal and progressed planets. Depending on the positions, you may see conjunctions, oppositions, squares, trines, sextiles, or other configured aspect types.
A conjunction places two positions close together by longitude. An opposition separates them by roughly 180 degrees. Squares, trines, and sextiles use their own angular relationships. The chart calculates these relationships using its default aspect orbs when custom orb settings are not supplied.
The geometry is factual output from the calculation. Astrologers then attach symbolic language to it.
Traditional readings often describe:
- Conjunctions as concentration, emphasis, or a new cycle around the planets involved.
- Squares as friction, effort, pressure, or a need to act.
- Oppositions as polarity, contrast, awareness through relationship, or competing demands.
- Trines as ease, flow, support, or a familiar pattern.
- Sextiles as opportunity, exchange, cooperation, or a choice to develop a potential.
These are interpretive conventions, not evidence that an aspect causes an outcome. A square between a progressed planet and a natal planet does not mean something is wrong. A trine does not remove agency, complexity, or ordinary life circumstances.
Use the aspect table to identify the precise contact first. Then consider whether the associated themes describe a useful question for the period you are living through.
Houses add a local frame
Signs describe zodiacal longitude. Houses describe divisions of the sky relative to the birth place and time. A planet can remain in the same sign while appearing in a different house under another house system.
That matters in a progressed natal chart because the calculation includes houses and angles as well as planet positions. The Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven, Imum Coeli, and house cusps rely heavily on accurate birth time and geographic coordinates.
Astrologers traditionally associate each house with a broad area of experience:

These associations are traditional symbolic frameworks. They are useful for reflection when they resonate with your own circumstances, not for replacing professional advice or making decisions on a chart alone.
If your birth time is uncertain, house placements and angles become less reliable. Planetary sign positions may still be useful, but a difference of minutes or hours can shift the Ascendant and house cusps substantially.
Progressions and transits answer different questions
A progressed chart and a transit chart use different dates and different purposes in astrology.
A transit chart calculates the planets’ actual positions in the sky for a current or selected date, then compares them to your natal chart. A progressed chart calculates planetary positions for a symbolic date after your birth, based on your age.
Astrologers may use transits to discuss external timing cycles and progressions to discuss inner development or readiness. Those are interpretive habits, not scientific categories. You can treat the two charts as separate lenses:
- Your natal chart shows the birth-time positions used as the foundation.
- Your progressed chart shows positions calculated through the day-for-a-year method.
- A transit chart shows astronomical positions for a present or selected date.
The two-ring display in this progression chart calculator is specifically a natal-versus-progressed comparison. It does not show current transits.
Why results can differ across calculators
Two progression chart tools may produce different house placements, angles, aspect lists, or progressed dates even when the birth details look similar. The discrepancy does not necessarily mean that one chart is incorrect. Astrology software can apply different conventions.
Results may vary because of:

- Birthplace coordinates
- Whole-year versus fractional-age progression methods
- The selected house system
- Aspect orb settings
- Zodiac framework or node settings

Begin with the chart data rather than trying to interpret every line at once. The progressed Moon, progressed Sun, chart angles, and exact natal-to-progressed aspects offer a manageable place to start.
You might note:
- Whether the progressed Moon has changed sign or house.
- Whether the progressed Sun has formed a close aspect to a natal planet.
- Which natal planets receive several progressed contacts.
- Whether a progressed angle is near a natal planet or point.
- Which themes feel relevant in your present life, without forcing a match.
A journal entry can be more useful than a prediction. If your progressed Venus is prominent, you might reflect on what you value, how your relationships feel, what brings pleasure, or where your standards have changed. If a progressed Mars aspect stands out, you might examine where you are directing effort, meeting resistance, or avoiding a necessary conversation.
Your experience supplies the context. Astrology offers a symbolic vocabulary, while the chart calculation supplies the positions and angular relationships.
Use accurate birth data, then keep the interpretation in proportion
A precise birth time and birthplace give the calculator the strongest basis for UTC conversion, house placement, and angles. If you know your birth time only approximately, read house and Ascendant-based material with extra caution.
